How To Cook Peas Pulao | Green Peas Pulao | Matar Pulao In A Cooker
Green Peas is an integral part of Indian culinary culture. A seasonal veggie usually available during winters and its versatile taste makes it a delicious ingredient to prepare several Indian dishes like Matar Paneer, Matar Mushroom etc.
Every region in India has a different version of Pulao. This easy recipe is filling and goes well with almost everything be it a starter or any side dish. Serve it with some spicy side dish or main course, or else you can also pair it with starters.

Ingredients:
Rice – 2 Cups
Oil – 3 - 4 Tbsp
Vegetables:
Peas – 1 Cup
Onion – 3 medium size, thin slices
Garlic Paste – 1 Tsp
Ginger Paste – 1 Tsp
Green Chilly – 2
Spices:
Cloves – 4 Pieces
Cinnamon – 4 Pieces
Cardamom / Elachi – 3-4 Pieces
Black Cardamom / Elachi – 2 – 3 Pieces
Javitri – Small piece
Bay Leaves – 2 – 3 Pieces
Shahi Jeera – ½ Tbsp
Salt (White or Himalayan Pink) – To taste
Dairy:
Ghee – 1 Tbsp
Curd – 250 Ml
Nuts:
Cashew – 4 to 5
Method of
Preparation: Masala Paste
Add ginger, garlic, chilli, onion and ¼ cup of water to a blender to get a
smooth paste.
Method of Preparation: Pulao
Step 1
In a pressure cooker heat 1 Tbsp Ghee and 3 Tbsp oil.
Step 2
In a pressure cooker add all the spices – Cloves, Cinnamon, Cardamom /
Elachi, Black Cardamom / Elachi, Javitri, Bay Leaves and Shahi Jeera. Sauté
until it gets aromatic.
Step 3
Add cashew and sliced onions until the colour changes.
Step 4
Add masala paste to the pressure
cooker and stir it for sometime.
Step 5
Add peas, 4 cups of water and salt to the pressure cooker and allow it to
boil.
Step 6
Add rice once the water is boiled.
Step 7
Cover the pressure cooker with a lid and cook for 1 whistle.
Method of Preparation: Raita
Step 1
To a large bowl add 1 cup of curd, finely chopped onion,
finely chopped cucumber and a pinch of salt.
Step 2
Mix it well and then garnish with finely chopped coriander
leaves.
